Associate Marriage and Family Therapist #144050

Welcome

Maybe you struggle to make meaningful connections with others. Maybe you find yourself wrestling with feelings of disrupting fear or anxiety. Maybe you are experiencing a sadness that is difficult to share with friends or family.  Often, the initial reason people come into therapy becomes the medium through which deeper spiritual, emotional, or existential deadlocks make themselves known.

I see therapy as an opportunity to co create a sanctuary for ongoing exploration and meaning making. As we develop a willingness to identify and work with subjugating feelings such as shame, judgment, isolation or self-criticism the capacity for an expanded sense of calm and playful curiosity emerges. Together we will experiment to uncover what offers you a sense of security, understanding, and renewal.

About Me

I am an artist holding a lifelong fascination with the body of human behavior and parallel narrative capacity for meaning making.  I arrived at psychology after 20 plus years of experience working as an arts educator, psychophysical theatre maker, dance improviser, and contemplative arts practitioner. I received a Masters of Clinical Psychology from Antioch University Los Angeles, following a Masters of Fine Art in Contemporary Performance from Naropa University in Boulder, CO. I have three and half years of direct clinical experience, and have worked with a variety of clients including LGBTQIA identified folx, persons exploring ethical non-monogamy, kink, and polyamory, persons with diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds, as well as persons with distinct mental health conditions.

I have a deep respect for the art of listening and responding in the present moment and an abiding commitment to exploring the emergent complexity of what is true.

I have currently completed a year-long psychoanalytic certification program at the Los Angeles Institute for Psychoanalytic Studies.

I am also a certified yoga facilitator attentive to the connection between psyche and body. I currently lead Somatic Grounding Group Work and Expressive Art Groups for Adolescents and Young Adults at Community West Treatment Center.

My Approach

My approach is warm, playful, empathic, open minded, and honest. I see therapy as an opportunity to practice candid and compassionate relationships with ourselves, others, and the multitude of environments we inhabit. I hold that people need to be known, rather than fixed, and by learning to affirm this view, space for growth and evolution emerges.  I believe all people in all phases of life deserve dignity.
